Irradiacion (Fragment) Performed live at the Music Gallery, Toronto, June 1, 2003

`The version of the piece that is being presented tonight is only a sketch, or rather a fragment of a sketch. It is the result of the work I’ve been doing over the past month, which was mostly focused on research in instrumental techniques and orchestration, both with the help of the ensemble and on my own. While this research has proved very fruitful, time constraints didn’t allow me to implement many of the ideas I developed for the piece, or to incorporate them into a well-structured form. Therefore I do not consider tonight’s performance a premier at all, but rather simply an opportunity to hear some of these ideas played by an ensemble, and one more step in the research process which has become such an integral part of my music.
