Founded in 1959, the Canadian Music Centre (CMC) is Canada’s primary place to find scores, parts and recordings of Canadian contemporary music composers. Housing Canada's largest collection of Canadian classical music works, the CMC exists to promote these works of its Associate Composers both in Canada and abroad.
The CMC represents the output close to 700 Associate Composers through a growing collection over 21,000 works. The Centre makes these works avalaiable for loan through its five libraries and for rental or sale via its Music Services division.
The CMC also operates its own multi-Juno-Award-winning record label, Centrediscs, which is Canada's only label devoted exclusively to the work of Canadian composers. In addition, the Centre sells more than 1,100 CD and DVD titles featuring music of its Associate Composers and other Canadian independent recording producers.
The Centre gladly offers a series of services to the music community at large, including on-demand score printing and binding services, music repertoire consultations, numerous education and outreach projects, and administers important music awards.
Currently, the CMC is actively expanding is online presence though the digital access to its score and audio collections, which may be experienced at its website at www.musiccentre.ca; the Sounds New podcast; the CenrteStreams online audio archive, and in the near future digital download score sales.
