Stephen Clarke has performed in festivals in Europe, Canada and the U.S., among these the Donaueschinger Musiktage and the Berliner Festwochen. He has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. He also plays in a duo with violinist Marc Sabat and has worked with a number of ensembles. Recordings include works by Giacinto Scelsi (Mode Records). Mr. Clarke studied composition at the University of Toronto and has written works for various ensembles.

Anita McAlister received a BMus from the University of Toronto and a MMus from the University of Western Ontario. An active freelancer in the Toronto area, Anita performs regularly with the Toronto Symphony, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Esprit Orchestra, the Mississauga Philharmonic, the Bach Consort and as Principal Trumpet of the Toronto Philharmonia. As a member of the Hannaford Street Silver Band, Anita can be heard on all of their recordings. Anita has worked with the National Ballet Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, has toured as Principal Trumpet of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Orchestra, was Principal Trumpet for the Kitchener/Waterloo run of Phantom of the Opera, and was a member of the Fanfare Trumpets and Theatre Orchestra at the Stratford Festival.

Anita has taught at the Scarborough Board of Education Music Camp, Interprovincial Music Camp, the Mount Allison Summer Music Program, and is a faculty member at National Music Camp. An active adjudicator and clinician, Anita has taught for the Royal Conservatory and has worked with its Examination Department to revise the trumpet syllabus and record for the Sound Advice Program. Anita is presently on Faculty at the University of Toronto and at Wilfrid Laurier University.

BLAIR MACKAY (percussion)

Blair Mackay’s eclectic performance career as a percussionist and a drummer has been highlighted in a wide range of musical contexts. He frequently performs for radio, television, and film soundtracks as well as performing and recording with many orchestras and small ensembles in Toronto. In 1988, Blair completed his Master of Music degree in performance at the University of Toronto. Since 1994, Blair has toured with the Dangerous Kitchen Ensemble performing the music of Frank Zappa in Europe, the United States, and Canada. He has been a featured soloist premiering new works for drum set in a variety of instrumental contexts. Blair is a performer with and Artistic Director of the Evergreen Club Gamelan Ensemble and a co-composer for Mosaic.

An extremely versatile musician, Peter is equally at home performing with major orchestras, premiering new works of music, and recording in the studio.  He currently plays Principal Bass for Toronto Philharmonia and Sinfonia Toronto, and has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the National Ballet of Canada.  He has been privileged to work with some great conductors, including Pinchas Zuckerman, Helmuth Rilling, Simon Streatfeild, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Peter has premiered numerous contemporary works with Arraymusic, Tapestry New Opera Works, New Music Concerts, Continuum, and Esprit Orchestra. His interest in New Music has continued with three major operatic premieres at the Banff Centre, and a Canadian touring production of Beatrice Chancy with Queen of Puddings Productions.  He is fortunate to have worked personally with some of the foremost New Music composers including Mauricio Kagel, Alexander Goehr, and George Crumb. Active in the Toronto recording industry, Peter has been on many broadcasts for CBC, and can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks, as well as classical recordings for Arraymusic, composer Linda Catlin Smith, and the Juno Award winning CD of the Toronto Symphony performing works of Sibelius.
picture of Rick Sacks RICHARD SACKS (Artistic Director, percussion)

Richard Sacks holds a masters degree in percussion from SUNY Stony Brook. He performs with Arraymusic, The Glass Orchestra, New Music Concerts, the Canadian Opera Co., Tapestry New Opera, the Evergreen Club Gamelan and others. He has toured extensively through Europe and Asia. Rick also works as both a performer and a composer/sound-designer in contemporary dance and theatre productions. He has performed with Robert Desrosiers, Dancemakers, Le Group de la Place Royal, Bill James, Carbon 14, and Toronto Dance Theatre. In theatre, recent work has been as composer/performer for Canadian Stage's Midsummer Night's Dream in the Park at High Park, Midsummer Night's Dream at Passe Muraille, the hit show 'Sibs' (Tarragon), and the award winning children's shows, "Dib and Dob" and "Danny, King of the Basement" (Roseneath). Rick is also Arraymusic's webmaster and the director of the Metcalf Project

Since completing her studies at the Guildhall School in London with Pauline Scott and in Switzerland with Professor Igor Ozim and Karen Turpie, Rebecca van der Post has given recitals and solo performances throughout Europe with duo partners including Thomas Adès and Sophie Rahman. In 1995, she gave the first performances of Peter Cowdrey’s concerto at the Purcell Room, London, with subsequent performances at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Istanbul Festival. For several years, Rebecca was the leader of the London-based new music group Ensemble Corrente, with whom she performed at the Aldeburgh and Belfast Sonorities Festivals and broadcast works like the piano trio Presence by Bernd Alois Zimmermann for the BBC. In Toronto, Rebecca has performed for CBC’s Two New Hours with Stephen Clarke, giving Canadian premieres of music by Magnus Lindberg, Galina Ustvolskaya, and Michael Hynes.
